چکیده
Pleurotus pulmonarius crude aqueous (CA) extract was previously reported to have therapeutic potential, thus its ability alleviate serum total cholesterol, vasodilation, and improve the aortic tissue structure in hypercholesterolemia rat model studied. Eight groups of Wistar-Kyoto rats were involved including normal (G1), (G2), treatment (G3 G5) prevention (G6 G8). Two doses CA; 0.5 g/kg body weight (BW), 2.0 BW, simvastatin 10 mg/kg BW orally fed Treatment induced with later treated CA/simvastatin, while given both hypercholesterolemia-diet CA/simvastatin simultaneously. The thoracic rings (TAR) subjected contractility study histopathology examination. In organ bath analysis, pre-contracted TAR G1 phenylephrine (PE) achieved 60% vasodilation response towards acetylcholine (ACh) whereas G2 unable respond ACh. G3 G5 failed dilate when ACh G6 G8 showed a slight improvement. repeated precontracted significantly dilated presence CA simvastatin. 100% at 3.0 mg/mL 2.4 73% 6.0 76.8% dilation recorded for 4.8 mg/mL. Histopathological examination found that able cells. These observations suggest helps condition hypercholesterolemic aorta.

Interaction of Aqueous Extract of Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fr.) Quel-Champ. with Glyburide in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Mice
Mushrooms are low calorie food with very little fat and are highly suitable for obese persons. With no starch and very low sugars, they are the 'delight of the diabetics'. Combination of herbal drugs (or isolated phytochemicals) is found to be beneficial in certain diseases when given along with conventional drugs. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of aqueous extract of P...
متن کاملCharacterisation of Potential Antidiabetic-Related Proteins from Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fr.) Quél. (Grey Oyster Mushroom) by MALDI-TOF/TOF Mass Spectrometry
Pleurotus pulmonarius has been reported to have a potent remedial effect on diabetic property and considered to be an alternative for type 2 diabetes mellitus treatment. This study aimed to investigate the antidiabetic properties of ammonium sulphate precipitated protein fractions from P. pulmonarius basidiocarps. Preliminary results demonstrated that 30% (NH4)2SO4 precipitated fraction (F30) i...

Background. Goodpasture's, or antiglomerular basement membrane (GBM), disease presents with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, and is caused by autoimmunity to the NCI domain of the 0:3 chain of type IV collagen. In order to investigate mechanisms involved in the induction and regulation of glomerulonephritis, experimental models of Goodpasture's disease have been developed in the rat whic...
متن کاملDifferential Cardiovascular Responses in Wistar-Kyoto and Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats
With the use of a restraint stress paradigm, both normotensive Wistar-Kyoto (WKY ) rats and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) underwent acute (1-hour restraint in a Perspex tube), chronic (1-hour restraint for 10 consecutive days), or no-restraint (control) stress. Rats experiencing chronic restraint were previously implanted with telemetric probes to measure heart rate and blood pressure. ...
متن کاملExopolysaccharides from Pleurotus pulmonarius: Fermentation Optimization, Characterization and Antioxidant Activity
Culture conditions for exopolysaccharide (EPS) production by Pleurotus pulmonarius in submerged culture are optimized. The suggested medium composition was as follows: 60 g/L of xylose, 6 g/L of soy extract, 5 mM of KH2PO4 and 5 mM of MgSO4. Under the optimized culture conditions in a 5-litre stirred tank fermentor, the maximum concentration of EPS was 6.36 g/L. Furthermore, the morphological p...
